Responsibilities
- Understand the Treasury Technology programme of work and current technical landscape.
- Ensure delivered software meets functional, non-functional, architectural, and maintainability requirements.
- Collaborate with architects and developers on component designs.
- Solve complex technical challenges, unblock engineers, establish technical standards, and resolve architectural issues.
- Develop backend components for real-time reporting, batch processing, downstream integrations, and high-volume ETL.
- Facilitate high-level estimating and release planning.
- Follow development standards and support scalable, maintainable application delivery.
- Maintain and execute automated tests and support quality assurance, ETL, system, performance, white-box, and black-box testing.
- Guide team management activities and influence technical decisions with business stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in Java; experience with Python and Scala is advantageous.
- Experience developing backend components, real-time reports, batch processes, downstream integrations, and high-volume data processing or ETL.
- Strong performance-tuning capabilities and experience building scalable, maintainable applications.
- Experience with relational databases, ideally Oracle Exadata, and knowledge of Oracle and PL/SQL.
- Experience with stream-based processing, Spark Streaming, Spark SQL, data frames, datasets, and big data technologies.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms including GCP, AWS, and Azure.
- Knowledge of automated testing tools, JUnit, ETL testing, system testing, performance testing, and test-driven development.
- Working knowledge of JIRA or defect management tools, Git Flow, software versioning, and Continuous Integration tools such as TeamCity.
- Experience with Agile delivery approaches, ideally Scrum or LeSS.
- Knowledge of Impala, Hive, Hadoop, reactive patterns, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Angular.js, Business Objects, or Tableau is desirable.
- Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent certification and/or relevant work experience.
- Strong communication, structured problem-solving, delivery focus, and ability to guide technical and business decisions.
- Experience in Finance, Risk, Treasury, banking, trading, investment banking, sales and trading, or asset management is advantageous.
- Ability to use AI tools responsibly to improve productivity and solve business problems.
