Responsibilities
- Design and implement search functionality in a Scala ecommerce backend.
- Develop search-related libraries using Elasticsearch and MongoDB.
- Run and maintain scalable, multi-tenant search infrastructure as code on Kubernetes using Terraform.
- Test software components for usability, functionality, and performance.
- Develop server-side systems and REST APIs using JVM technologies and scalable architectures.
- Collaborate with Product Management and DevOps and participate in worldwide production on-call rotations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer working with JVM languages.
- Search-related software engineering experience, preferably with Elasticsearch.
- Practical experience developing JVM-based server-side systems.
- Interest in Scala and pragmatic functional programming patterns; experience with Scala or other functional programming languages is a plus.
- Understanding of parallel and asynchronous programming and non-blocking I/O.
- Experience developing REST APIs and understanding scalable or event-driven architectures, including sharding, replication, load balancing, failover, queues, and notification topics.
- Infrastructure experience and familiarity with Helm, Kubernetes, and Rust are nice to have.
- Fluent English for working in international teams and a willingness to learn and apply AI tools.
