Responsibilities
- Build ingestion pipelines for streams of logs, metrics, and other telemetry exceeding 1 million requests per second.
- Build scalable, fault-tolerant alerting engines that notify users in real time when thresholds are breached.
- Develop backend observability APIs in collaboration with product teams.
- Provide APIs for real-time log and metrics streams consumed by dashboard and product teams.
- Build Go and Rust gRPC services from scratch for tens of thousands of users and future million-plus scale.
- Define immutable infrastructure that can be torn down, failed over, and reconstituted using Terraform and Ansible.
- Write Engineering Requirement Documents from initial ideas through implementation and success monitoring.
- Integrate microservice APIs with TypeScript and GraphQL edges for internal and potentially external consumption.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and experience building fault-tolerant, resilient, and scalable services.
- Interest in VictoriaMetrics, ClickHouse, and other observability-stack technologies.
- Ability to anticipate system longevity and replace systems as they age.
- Ability to implement solutions, monitor error boundaries, and document operational requirements.
- Strong prioritization and direction in an ambiguous early-stage startup environment.
- Grit to investigate problems, implement solutions, scale them, and replace them when needed.
- Strong communication skills for explaining and implementing solutions.
- Candidates complete a theoretical or actual observability-system design project as part of the interview process.
