Base Salary
$150k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own technical strategy for broad or complex requirements and solve large, open-ended engineering problems.
- Define department-wide architecture, design patterns, and coding approaches while reviewing output from multiple teams.
- Lead technical architecture, design, prototyping, implementation, testing, deployment, and system health improvements.
- Lead a broad functional area and direct efforts through functional team members and cross-functional partners.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, architects, operations, support, and other engineering groups to deliver features and resolve production issues.
- Develop and mentor engineers, provide technical leadership for cross-functional projects, and coordinate technical planning and execution.
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, processes, application quality, performance, scalability, and security.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, with the stated background typically obtained through education and/or experience.
- 12 or more years of relevant experience.
- 9 or more years of experience developing distributed systems, SaaS, cloud solutions, or microservices.
- 8 or more years of experience with Java and Spring.
- Proficiency with Maven or Gradle and demonstrated delivery of business-critical systems.
- Experience designing and developing scalable systems, event-driven architectures, messaging frameworks, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with Java/Spring Boot, AWS-based application architecture, hands-on system design and coding, code and design reviews, mentoring, and technical leadership.
- Knowledge of payment networks such as RTP and FedNow, FinTech experience, and Kubernetes experience is preferred.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple departments; background and drug screening are required.

- Base pay is location-dependent at $150,000–$200,000 per year in Phoenix/Chicago and $180,000–$240,000 per year in San Francisco, plus a discretionary incentive plan.
