Responsibilities
- Develop embedded C++17 application components for alarms, patient-data persistence, startup, supervision, session management, power-down, and service functionality.
- Own a self-contained application area from initial design through merged, tested, and documented code.
- Implement fault handling, recovery, watchdogs, system supervision, logging, audit logging, and controlled power management.
- Build storage interfaces, patient-data packaging and retrieval, session lifecycle functionality, USB export, software updates, and rollback support.
- Collaborate with the Software Architect and engineers responsible for surrounding components.
- Apply formal engineering processes, peer review, traceable changes, documented design decisions, automated testing, code coverage, and quality gates.
Requirements
- Strong experience developing modern C++17 applications on embedded Linux.
- Strong understanding of RAII, fixed-width types, std::atomic, multithreading, and lock-free or bounded queues.
- Experience with deterministic, reliable software and allocation-free or low-allocation runtime environments.
- Experience with ports-and-adapters or hexagonal architecture, interfaces, and dependency injection.
- Strong Linux systems integration experience, including services, watchdogs, and system-level fault management.
- Experience with IPC and serialization technologies such as FlatBuffers, Unix-domain sockets, or named pipes.
- Experience with CMake, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, cross-compilation, unit testing, and code coverage.
- Experience with safety-critical, mission-critical, or highly regulated software.
- Desirable experience includes medical devices, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1-8, medical alarm systems, state-machine-driven supervisors, NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA, Yocto, systemd, D-Bus, OpenSSL, TensorRT, Docker, GoogleTest, Python, software FMEA, and risk controls.
