Responsibilities
- Develop modern C++17 embedded Linux software for a safety-critical medical technology product.
- Own a self-contained application area from initial design through implementation, testing, documentation, and merge.
- Implement technical, patient-sensor, signal-quality, external-monitoring, and hardware alarms with fault handling and recovery.
- Develop power-on checks, self-tests, watchdog and supervision mechanisms, fail-safe states, logging, audit logging, and telemetry monitoring.
- Build patient-data persistence, packaging, queueing, retention, retrieval, back-fill, and versioned backend-to-GUI interfaces.
- Manage patient sensor and session lifecycles, recovery, graceful shutdown, controlled power-down, USB export, service tools, software updates, and rollback.
- Work with the Software Architect and surrounding-component engineers while following formal review, traceability, quality, and documentation processes.
Requirements
- Strong experience developing modern C++17 applications on embedded Linux.
- Strong knowledge of RAII, fixed-width types, std::atomic, multithreading, and lock-free or bounded queues.
- Experience developing deterministic, reliable software in allocation-free or low-allocation runtime environments.
- Experience with ports-and-adapters or hexagonal architecture, interfaces, and dependency injection.
- Strong Linux systems integration experience involving services, watchdogs, and system-level fault management.
- Experience with IPC and serialization technologies such as FlatBuffers, Unix-domain sockets, or named pipes.
- Experience with CMake, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, code coverage, and quality gates.
- Experience with cross-compilation, ideally for aarch64 platforms.
- Experience working on safety-critical, mission-critical, highly regulated, or medical-device software.
- Desirable experience includes regulated lifesciences environments, medical alarms, fault-management systems, state-machine-driven supervisors, software FMEA, and risk controls.
- Desirable knowledge includes IEC 62304, ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1-8, NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA, Yocto, systemd, D-Bus, OpenSSL, TensorRT, Docker, GoogleTest, behaviour-driven testing, Gherkin, and Python tooling.
