Responsibilities
- Architect, build, maintain, and own scalable iOS and Android mobile applications and complex features end to end.
- Lead technical design decisions, identify architectural improvements, and drive technical debt reduction.
- Deliver high-performance mobile features for fleet data, GPS tracking, real-time alerts, and telematics insights.
- Optimize battery life, memory efficiency, network usage, and offline behavior in constrained environments.
- Establish mobile testing practices across unit, UI, integration, and regression testing.
- Own mobile CI/CD pipelines and App Store and Google Play release processes.
- Integrate mobile applications with Geotab’s telematics backend APIs and coordinate with backend, hardware, and firmware teams.
- Use and evaluate AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, testing, documentation, and code review quality.
- Mentor developers, lead technical discussions, maintain system documentation, and contribute to cross-cutting strategic initiatives.
- Participate in an applicable 24x7 on-call rotation as a senior incident responder.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Deep expertise in Swift/SwiftUI, Kotlin/Jetpack Compose, or cross-platform frameworks such as React Native and Flutter with native bridging capabilities.
- Proven experience shipping production-grade mobile applications at scale with ownership of reliability, performance, and quality.
- Proficiency with mobile architecture patterns and the ability to apply them pragmatically.
- Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines and end-to-end App Store and Google Play release processes.
- Proficiency with mobile testing frameworks and strategies such as XCTest, Espresso, or Detox.
- Strong understanding of mobile performance optimization, including memory management, battery usage, network efficiency, and offline-first design.
- Experience improving software architecture for scalability, testability, and maintainability.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code, including use for test generation, documentation, and code reviews.
- Strong communication, mentoring, independent decision-making, cross-team collaboration, and ambiguity-navigation skills.
- Preferred experience in fleet telematics or connected vehicle platforms; real-time data streams, WebSockets, MQTT, mobile security, BLE, CAN bus, or device pairing.
