Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design, architecture, and implementation of scalable features and microservices for the Metadata Catalog and Knowledge Graph platform.
- Design, build, and optimize low-latency, high-throughput distributed services handling graph relationships and data lineage queries.
- Champion engineering practices, design reviews, code quality, automated testing, and developer-owned quality.
- Mentor and coach mid-level and early-career engineers.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, SREs, and peer engineering teams across Cisco Data Fabric.
- Own production services, establish observability standards and SLOs/SLAs, define performance benchmarks, participate in on-call rotations, and conduct post-incident reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering plus 8 years of related experience, or a master’s degree plus 6 years, or a PhD plus 3 years.
- Proven experience designing, building, and deploying enterprise-grade distributed systems and cloud-native microservices in production on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Advanced proficiency in Go, Java, or C++ with strong debugging and system-level programming skills.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Deep experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Strong command of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, system design, and database principles.
- Preferred: experience with Neo4j, AWS Neptune, Apache AGE, ArangoDB, Cypher, Gremlin, GraphQL, RDF/SPARQL, metadata catalogs, data governance tools, schema registries, data lineage platforms, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, OpenTelemetry, or Prometheus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
