Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable global COBOL applications supporting Solera’s product offerings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and enhance features.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to software development best practices.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in existing production applications using COBOL debugging tools.
- Develop middleware applications using relational and non-relational databases and cloud-hosted applications.
- Support performance engineering and help teams address non-functional requirements for web-scale systems.
- Stay current with industry trends and technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 6 years of professional COBOL programming experience, including COBOL-85 and batch and online COBOL programs.
- Experience troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving production COBOL issues using tools such as Xpediter and Abend-AID.
- Knowledge of Micro Focus Net Express, Microsoft Visual Basic, and C is nice to have.
- Prior experience with Agile, CI/CD tools and workflows, Domain-Driven Design, microservice architectures, SQL Server, NoSQL and/or Oracle databases, API design, Business-Driven Design, and Test-Driven Development.
- Experience with middleware, security, vulnerability remediation, performance engineering, relational and non-relational databases, and cloud-hosted applications.
- Strong background in the PaaS space is preferred.
