Responsibilities
- Build backend APIs, persistence, and orchestration for conversation-routing and product-assistant services.
- Design durable workflows with retries, concurrency, and state that survives process restarts.
- Integrate services with Agentic Orchestration, neighboring product APIs, and identity systems.
- Lead code reviews, technical discussions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and mentoring.
- Participate in on-call rotations and production incident response.
- Improve test coverage, technical debt management, system health, and operational practices.
- Help establish tools, guardrails, and shared practices for AI-assisted engineering.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Node.js/TypeScript.
- Experience with real-time systems, streaming APIs using SSE or WebSocket, and event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices, and state management across replicas, such as etcd or Redis.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and event-driven systems, ideally with Kafka.
- Hands-on experience with durable workflow orchestration, ideally Temporal.
- Solid experience with complex cloud infrastructure, ideally GCP and/or AWS.
- Working knowledge of MongoDB or similar document databases.
- Strong system design fundamentals involving scalability, latency, failover, and trade-offs.
- Production experience with AI, LLMs, or agents and knowledge of RAG, tool use, agent patterns, evaluation, guardrails, and LLM observability.
- Clear written and spoken English communication and comfort working in distributed, cross-functional teams.
- Preferred: experience with conversational AI, chatbot or voicebot platforms, NLP/NLU pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, OAuth/OIDC, CPaaS, or fast-growth product companies.
