Responsibilities
- Drive architecture vision and strategy across K12 product platforms.
- Participate in the Architecture Council by presenting designs, reviewing proposals, and shaping shared standards.
- Own technical direction for a platform and recommend architectural approaches across platforms.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand functional needs, constraints, and objectives.
- Define architectural visions that prioritize security, performance, reliability, DevOps, monitoring, and maintainability.
- Identify, prioritize, and address technical debt.
- Support estimation, planning, and business-case evaluation for major initiatives.
- Partner with Product, UX, and engineering to sequence large initiatives into roadmaps.
- Provide ongoing architectural guidance during development.
- Document architecture decisions, patterns, and strategy.
- Help engineering teams understand platform integration with the broader K12 ecosystem.
- Encourage innovation through prototypes and exploration of new technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including influence over multi-system architecture.
- 3+ years building solutions on AWS.
- Hands-on experience with multiple coding languages, UI frameworks, and database technologies.
- Familiarity with modern web technologies and open-source frameworks.
- Experience with large-scale, high-availability systems.
- Understanding of application, integration, SOA, and distributed architecture patterns.
- Strong problem-solving, complex trade-off analysis, communication, and influence skills.
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
- Background check clearance and willingness to travel up to 5%.
- Desired: experience building SaaS products and addressing cross-browser challenges.

- Salary range is $81,045.75-$156,000.00, with eligible employees potentially receiving a bonus.
