Base Salary
$140k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product, design, and newsroom partners to build content data products and APIs.
- Take ownership of features, driving them from requirements gathering through deployment and monitoring.
- Use AI to process archives and convert unstructured data into structured data.
- Ensure high code quality, security, and system observability.
- Drive architectural excellence through code reviews and best practices.
- Champion a quality-first culture by architecting automated testing frameworks.
- Mentor other software engineers to promote their growth.
- Support the mission of journalistic independence.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Fluency in backend technologies such as Go, Python, or Java and SQL databases.
- Experience designing and building data backend services and APIs.
- Experience with data feeds development.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tooling.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms like GCP or AWS.
- Understanding of application and data security best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
