Responsibilities
- Build and operate Natera’s Internal Developer Portal as a product with a platform foundation, roadmap, and adoption metrics.
- Develop a trusted service catalog with ownership, relationships, and automated ingestion from source-of-truth systems.
- Build integrations with cloud accounts, CI/CD systems, secrets management, and internal APIs.
- Shape the golden path framework and develop Infrastructure Provisioning golden paths with networking, security, observability, and compliance built in.
- Help other teams create and maintain portal-native golden paths through documentation, examples, pairing, and code review.
- Re-envision existing pipelines, internal UIs, and procedures as self-service portal journeys and decommission superseded tooling.
- Support AI-accessible platform capabilities through structured metadata, documented interfaces, and agent-consumable tooling.
- Drive adoption by validating workflows with users, supporting onboarding, measuring friction, and developing platform and compliance scorecards.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering, including shared services used by multiple teams.
- Solid experience with AWS, including IAM, multi-account environments, and EKS; Terraform; Kubernetes; and reusable CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong programming ability in at least one modern language and experience maintaining production software with testing, code review, and operational discipline.
- Experience building or extending an internal developer portal, developer platform, or comparable self-service tooling, or closely transferable automation experience.
- Experience redesigning scattered internal capabilities into coherent self-service workflows.
- TypeScript and React, or equivalent application development experience in another modern language and framework.
- Ability to own features or workstreams from design through production and ongoing support.
- Fluent day-to-day use of AI coding assistants and agentic tooling, with interest in protocols such as MCP.
- Experience treating internal engineers as customers and encoding change control, access review, and audit evidence into automation.
- Clear written communication, including design documents, ADRs, and operational documentation.
- Preferred experience with Backstage or Port, catalog modeling, templating, scaffolding, custom actions, or plugin development.
- Preferred experience migrating internal tooling, using TechDocs or MkDocs, integrating platform search, operating PostgreSQL-backed web applications, and implementing internal-platform authentication and authorization with an external identity provider.
- Contributions to open-source platforms or developer-experience projects are a bonus.
