Responsibilities
- Design, build, configure, and deploy Azure cloud infrastructure for Azure AI Search and associated application services.
- Implement and manage Azure AI Search, Azure SQL serverless capabilities, Azure Service Bus, and containerized .NET workloads.
- Create reusable Terraform modules, environment-specific configurations, remote state patterns, and repeatable Infrastructure-as-Code deployments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated infrastructure and application deployment across multiple environments.
- Configure Azure networking, identity and access controls, secrets management, monitoring, logging, security, and operational controls.
- Establish development, test, and production environments with repeatable deployment patterns.
- Deploy and support containerized .NET applications using Azure container hosting services.
- Troubleshoot deployment and integration issues and improve reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Produce technical documentation, deployment guides, operational runbooks, support materials, and final handover documentation.
- Provide structured knowledge transfer to the internal team at the end of the assignment.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying cloud-native solutions in Microsoft Azure.
- Practical experience deploying, indexing, and integrating Azure AI Search with application or data services.
- Experience with Azure SQL serverless capabilities, Azure Service Bus, Azure Storage Accounts, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
- Experience deploying .NET applications using Azure Container Apps or an equivalent Azure hosting service.
- Proven experience using Terraform to provision and manage Azure infrastructure, including reusable modules and repeatable environment deployments.
- Experience structuring Infrastructure-as-Code repositories and applying validation, review, and release controls.
- Experience creating CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions and automating deployments across multiple environments.
- Confident use of Git, branching strategies, pull requests, and code review practices.
- Hands-on knowledge of Docker, containers, and Azure container hosting services, including configuration, secrets, networking, logging, health checks, and scaling.
- Good understanding of Azure networking, including virtual networks, private endpoints, and network security controls.
- Experience implementing Microsoft Entra ID, role-based access control, and managed identities.
- C# and .NET engineering knowledge.
- Desirable experience delivering AI, generative AI, enterprise search, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation solutions.
- Desirable exposure to Azure OpenAI, vector search, semantic search, document indexing, and integration with structured and unstructured data sources.
- Knowledge of Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure cost management, resilience, backup, disaster recovery, and enterprise security, governance, or compliance controls.
- Ability to travel to and work at client sites across the UK as required.
