Responsibilities
- Design and implement features and performance improvements for scalable distributed data pipelines and Fivetran’s core ELT platform.
- Work across the full project lifecycle, including requirements, design, prototyping, implementation, review, release, and monitoring.
- Lead engineering-wide initiatives for key technologies and collaborate on cross-functional projects.
- Review and approve technical design documents and pull requests.
- Improve engineering documentation and development processes.
- Coach and mentor software engineers and participate in hiring interviews.
- Troubleshoot and optimize production systems for performance, reliability, data security, and cluster orchestration.
Requirements
- Typically 5+ years of software development experience in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in an object-oriented or systems language such as Java, Python, or C#.
- Experience developing data-processing systems, preferably for an external-facing product.
- Experience with end-to-end systems profiling, performance analysis, and optimization.
- Experience troubleshooting existing code and systems and writing, testing, and deploying well-structured performant code.
- Experience working in cloud environments using technologies such as AWS, GCP, Postgres, Kubernetes, or Docker.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English.
- Bonus: experience with SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, CosmosDB, or ETL/ELT pipelines.
