Responsibilities
- Own the technical roadmap for areas of responsibility, including reliability, scalability, security, technical debt, and system health.
- Design and implement robust backend systems with clean APIs and interfaces.
- Architect and build highly scalable microservices and integrate with risk and mitigation systems.
- Lead technical delivery for large-scale, organisationally complex projects and cross-team initiatives.
- Optimize schemas, queries, and data lifecycles for sensitive information across relational and non-relational databases.
- Mentor engineers, share best practices, and contribute to a high-performing engineering culture.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience with Java 8+, the Spring framework, asynchronous message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, and scalable microservices.
- Strong product mindset with interest in customer experience and regulatory compliance.
- Experience making data-driven decisions and solving complex, ambiguous problems.
- Exceptional communication skills for explaining technical and architectural concepts to diverse audiences.
- Commitment to clean, testable, maintainable, and high-performance code, rigorous code reviews, and sound coding practices.
- Proven ability to lead technical delivery for large-scale, organisationally complex projects and anticipate organizational blockers.
- Extensive experience with relational and non-relational databases, advanced query optimization, schema design, and sensitive-data lifecycle management.
Benefits
- Starting base salary of £87,500–£111,000 plus RSUs.
