Responsibilities
- Implement scalable Infrastructure-as-Code patterns with Terraform for standardized cloud provisioning.
- Own and evolve the Kubernetes platform, including EKS or self-managed Kubernetes environments.
- Optimize CI/CD pipelines and partner with engineering teams to improve deployments and release confidence.
- Design and enforce secure networking, IAM, and secrets management strategies.
- Improve observability through metrics, logs, and tracing using DataDog.
- Optimize cloud costs through rightsizing, autoscaling, and architectural improvements.
- Implement disaster recovery, backup, and multi-region resilience initiatives.
- Modernize brittle or manually managed infrastructure into automated, testable, and reproducible systems.
- Introduce infrastructure tooling and architectural changes while driving adoption through documentation, workshops, and hands-on support.
- Lead incident response processes and drive meaningful postmortem outcomes.
- Communicate technical trade-offs across engineering and product stakeholders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
- Proven experience designing and operating production Kubernetes environments at scale.
- Deep hands-on expertise with AWS infrastructure and cloud networking.
- Strong experience building and maintaining Terraform modules across large cloud environments.
- Demonstrated ownership of CI/CD systems and measurable improvement of DORA metrics.
- Experience leading incident response processes and postmortems.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, Kafka, and PostgreSQL performance.
- Proven ability to modernize legacy infrastructure and eliminate manual operational toil.
- Ability to take infrastructure projects from ambiguity to production with minimal direction.
- Ability to build trust across teams while improving reliability.
- Experience coding applications is a bonus.
- Experience with high-throughput Kafka clusters, PostgreSQL and Redis performance tuning, autoscaling, service mesh technologies, internal developer platforms, zero-trust networking, policy-as-code, multi-region systems, SLOs, error budgets, or chaos testing is preferred.
