Responsibilities
- Design and develop performance-optimized ABAP solutions for SAP HANA using database pushdown principles.
- Build data models and reusable artifacts with CDS views, associations, annotations, and authorization concepts.
- Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP and SQLScript.
- Develop modular ABAP code, services, and APIs using modern design, OData, versioning, and contract-first practices.
- Build AI-enabled SAP experiences with LLM integration, tool-calling orchestration, retrieval-grounded outputs, prompts, schemas, and context assembly.
- Create automated tests and AI evaluation harnesses using regression coverage, golden datasets, scenario testing, and monitoring.
- Implement AI guardrails including authorization-aware filtering, redaction, confirmations, and audit logs.
- Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces, and implement robust error handling, retries, idempotency, and safe failure modes.
- Support incident response, runbooks, structured diagnostics, and continuous reliability improvements.
- Integrate SAP services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems and collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams on end-to-end delivery.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience.
- 15 years of full-time education.
- Strong hands-on experience in ABAP development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS views and modern enterprise data modeling, including associations, annotations, and authorization concepts.
- Experience with AMDP and SQLScript for controlled code pushdown.
- Solid software engineering discipline covering clean design, testing, CI/CD orientation, and production readiness.
- Ability to build AI-native capabilities involving LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.
- Experience or knowledge of OData and service design, API lifecycle management, contract-first development, SAP security and authorizations, compliance, benchmarking, load testing, and query-plan tuning is beneficial.
