Base Salary
$140k - $180k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction and roadmap for eight HR-related applications, balancing maintenance, stability, and feature development.
- Partner directly with HR stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Assess applications for technical debt, modernization opportunities, support burden, and engineering-standard alignment.
- Write and ship production code across Python, TypeScript/React, Ruby, FastAPI, Flask, Next.js, and PostgreSQL.
- Validate the initial staffing model and partner with leadership to define and fill the second engineering role.
- Establish support processes, stakeholder communication channels, operational workflows, and team culture.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on full-stack engineering experience with Python, TypeScript/React, and PostgreSQL.
- Proven ability to own multiple applications end-to-end from roadmap through delivery and support.
- Experience partnering with non-technical business stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions.
- Ability to operate autonomously in a founding role and define processes and priorities from scratch.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience with Ruby/Sinatra, FastAPI, Flask, or Next.js.
- Preferred prior technical lead or team lead experience, including mentoring junior engineers.
- Preferred familiarity with applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms, or similar enterprise integrations.
