Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, review, and debug secure, high-quality production software.
- Design and deliver scalable microservices and APIs within the Spring ecosystem.
- Use Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks to build backend systems with strong testing practices.
- Build and operationalize AI agents for engineering workflows, including code review, runbook support, and remediation.
- Use Python for AI and agent prototyping, automation, evaluation harnesses, and integrations.
- Use Copilot, Claude Code, and other authorized AI coding tools for refactoring, test generation, documentation, and modernization while validating outputs for correctness and security.
- Improve engineering productivity and contribute reusable AI-assisted development patterns to the broader team.
- Apply secure handling, verification, resiliency, and responsible AI practices when working with sensitive data and AI-generated outputs.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Advanced Java development skills, including object-oriented design, concurrency, performance, and debugging.
- Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, related Spring frameworks, Elasticsearch, and unit and integration testing.
- Hands-on experience using Copilot, Claude Code, or similar authorized AI-assisted development tools while maintaining code quality, security, and test coverage.
- Experience building AI agents or LLM-enabled workflows, including prompting, grounding, verification, and safe handling of sensitive data.
- Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, or AI and agent prototyping.
- Understanding of CI/CD, application resiliency, security, and agile software delivery.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes.
- Ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows and ability to guide peers on safe and effective practices.
- Preferred: experience operating production-grade agentic systems with observability, evaluations, prompt versioning, fallbacks, rate limits, and guardrails.
- Preferred: experience with microservice resiliency, distributed tracing, and event-driven design.
