Base Salary
$207k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop mission-critical Cloud Spanner enterprise features for high-consistency, low-latency distributed database systems.
- Solve complex distributed-systems problems and establish long-term technical strategy for assigned areas.
- Improve operational reliability through automation and defensive engineering while preventing scaling, security, and compliance bottlenecks.
- Represent Cloud Spanner as a subject matter expert with enterprise customers, external partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Build consensus across teams and align technical roadmaps.
- Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, technical guidance, and sponsorship.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages, including C++, and with data structures or algorithms.
- At least 5 years of experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- At least 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
- At least 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Preferred: experience with database internals, complex issue diagnosis, mission-critical high-availability or disaster-recovery systems, and taking enterprise or cloud infrastructure products from 0-to-1 through post-launch operations.
