Responsibilities

  • Modernise .NET services by containerising applications for Amazon ECS and optimising them for cloud-native operation.
  • Design and improve resilient distributed systems through health checks, fault tolerance, observability, scalability, and performance optimisation.
  • Create reusable .NET service templates, frameworks, engineering standards, and best practices that improve developer experience.
  • Develop automation and AI-assisted tooling for analysing services, identifying migration opportunities, and generating infrastructure and deployment scaffolding.
  • Optimise containerised workloads for performance, resource utilisation, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate across engineering, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and product teams to drive cloud-native adoption and influence technical direction.
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes for faster, safer, and more consistent software delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership through documentation, design reviews, demonstrations, mentoring, and engineering community engagement.

Requirements

  • Strong professional experience developing applications with C# and .NET, plus knowledge of software engineering principles and modern backend architecture.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, resilience patterns, observability, scalability, and performance optimisation.
  • Experience creating reusable engineering patterns, frameworks, or shared libraries for multiple teams.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or an equivalent technology.
  • Experience building and operating cloud-native applications using containers and orchestration technologies within AWS and Amazon ECS.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity, quality, and software delivery, with the judgment to validate outputs.
  • Track record of influencing technical decisions across engineering teams through collaboration, communication, and technical credibility.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including explaining technical concepts, building trusted relationships, and driving adoption of engineering standards.
