Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior business and technology leaders to translate business needs into technology decisions.
  • Create and execute technology roadmaps while owning technical scope, architecture, implementation direction, and delivery planning.
  • Modernize legacy applications and architect greenfield frontend, backend, API, and integration solutions.
  • Design adaptable, cost-optimized, cloud-native SaaS and microservice architectures for globally distributed environments.
  • Write and review code, integrate AI/ML/LLM capabilities, and implement CI/CD pipelines and delivery automation.
  • Make architecture decisions, identify technical risks, and escalate decisions with broader implications to leadership.
  • Own architectural standards, practices, artifacts, and technical documentation.
  • Lead, coach, pair with, and mentor a small team of developers while serving as the technical point of contact.
  • Evaluate technology products and collaborate with Information Security and Enterprise Cloud on security and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with software development design patterns, methodology, and lifecycle.
  • 5+ years of experience with legacy technology modernization and refactoring techniques.
  • 5+ years of experience with distributed, cloud-native, API, and microservices architecture, including service orchestration.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and operating microservice, containerized, or serverless applications.
  • Experience with application performance management, diagnostics, and issue resolution.
  • Experience with development frameworks, cloud-native technologies, CI/CD pipelines, UML, Java, .NET, Docker, Kubernetes, JavaScript, and AWS or Azure Cloud.
  • Experience delivering highly available and resilient solutions meeting regulatory and information security requirements.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tools and understanding of AI concepts, algorithms, and applications.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada and eligible to handle US export-controlled data without posing a controlled-goods safeguarding risk.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes cloud well-architected principles, big data solutions, Databricks, Palantir, Snowflake, business-outcome-focused organizational enablement, technology evaluation, systems thinking, and airplane health and maintenance domains.
