Responsibilities
- Develop, test, document, and maintain Java-based backend software components.
- Design and implement scalable, resilient, high-performing backend services and data integration and processing solutions.
- Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle and support releases.
- Identify and resolve complex technical issues and participate in solution and code reviews.
- Create design documentation and maintain high software quality through sound engineering practices.
- Work with business analysts, architects, and global technology teams in a scaled Agile environment.
- Mentor junior developers on advanced Java concepts and contribute to modernization and standardization initiatives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of Java development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java SE, including Collections Framework, Generics, Exception Handling, Streams API, Lambda expressions, and Records.
- Deep understanding of multithreading, concurrency patterns, JVM internals, performance optimization, systematic debugging, and JVM tuning.
- Experience writing testable code with JUnit and Mockito for unit and integration testing.
- Experience with microservice-oriented and event-driven architectures, asynchronous communication, API management, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
- Experience designing and integrating RESTful and SOAP-based services and working with application servers such as JBoss, Tomcat, WebLogic, or WebSphere.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform or OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, TeamCity or Jenkins, Maven, Git, and Atlassian tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder-management, collaboration, autonomy, initiative, and ownership skills.
- Fluent English is required; German is a plus.
- Preferred experience includes Technical Lead or Backend Lead work, JMS/Kafka/RabbitMQ/IBM MQ/Solace, live critical systems, capital markets, trading, investment or securities processing, and large-scale modernization in a global financial institution.
