Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction, coaching, and guidance to engineering teams.
- Lead end-to-end software development, testing, operational support, and delivery for complex or high-impact projects.
- Maintain end-to-end accountability for products or services and develop technology solutions aligned with customer needs.
- Build customer-facing applications and establish automated, predictable software delivery processes.
- Create technical test plans and records, including automated unit and integration tests.
- Support DevOps teams across product and service releases and changes.
- Identify and resolve operational issues, incidents, performance problems, alerting issues, and design defects.
- Ensure service resilience, sustainability, and recovery time objectives for delivered software solutions.
- Automate continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines within DevOps product or service teams.
- Promote innovation, adopt specialist technologies, and influence HSBC’s engineering direction.
- Mentor, develop, and motivate engineering talent.
Requirements
- At least 11 years of hands-on advanced software development experience as a full-stack developer.
- Strong technical capabilities in APIs, Java, web-based technologies, Node.js, ReactJS, databases, artificial intelligence, and microservices.
- Experience with cloud-native development and public cloud providers such as GCP or Azure.
- Experience implementing customer-facing applications.
- Understanding of mobile applications, host-to-host technologies, artificial intelligence, and microservices.
- Knowledge and experience with DevOps, Disciplined Agile Delivery, and Agile control frameworks.
- Experience presenting to senior business and technology stakeholders.
- Experience with production support and incident management.
- Strong knowledge of the technical environment and experience setting technology direction.
- Ability to negotiate, collaborate, present, facilitate, influence engineering teams and stakeholders, and mentor staff.
