Responsibilities
- Deliver complete software solutions across design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations.
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend systems for PayPal’s payment platform.
- Improve system performance and reliability.
- Advise management on project-level technical issues.
- Make technical decisions with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and design discussions.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years of backend development experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language, including Java, Python, or Ruby on Rails.
- Advanced backend development experience with Java EE frameworks, Spring MVC, or Hibernate.
- Experience designing and implementing scalable and reliable RESTful services using Java.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, database design, and ORM tools.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and design discussions.
- Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems preferred.
- Knowledge of the payment processing industry and relevant regulations preferred.
- Contributions to open-source projects preferred.
