Base Salary
$193k - $262k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical vision and engineering strategy for retrieval systems supporting AI-driven shopping experiences.
- Design, implement, deploy, and operate scalable, high-performance retrieval infrastructure serving millions of customers.
- Build critical components of Amazon Rufus agentic harness infrastructure and own features through the full lifecycle.
- Improve system latency, quality, relevance, reliability, and security in partnership with science and engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Applied Scientists, Software Engineers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders on innovative solutions.
- Perform prompt tuning, retrieval evaluations, and relevance assessments with Applied Scientists.
- Define long-term technical vision, product roadmaps, architecture, and technology evolution.
- Mentor junior developers, promote software development best practices, build prototypes, and support operational excellence.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture for new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leader of an engineering team.
- Preferred: 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
