Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust PHP backend services capable of handling high-volume global traffic.
- Build functional APIs and optimize database queries for performance.
- Contribute to modular, resilient, service-oriented architecture.
- Write clean, maintainable code using SOLID principles, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
- Debug and resolve issues across the application stack.
- Implement asynchronous processes using queues and basic event-driven patterns.
- Collaborate with Senior Engineers and Product teams to deliver technical solutions.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to maintain 24/7 service reliability.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional backend development experience with strong PHP skills.
- Experience building applications with Laravel or strong Symfony experience with willingness to transition to Laravel.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, interfaces, and code modularity.
- Solid SQL knowledge, including indexing, migrations, and query optimization.
- Ability to use, prompt, validate, and iterate with AI tools during technical work.
- Familiarity with Docker and basic CI/CD pipeline troubleshooting.
- Experience writing unit and feature tests.
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Candidates must already reside in Spain or the UK and be fully eligible to work in the applicable country.
- Bonus qualifications include Redis or Memcached, AWS, SaaS or travel technology experience, eSIM or GSMA experience, and knowledge of distributed systems and horizontal scaling.
