Responsibilities
- Develop the numerical toolkit for fault-tolerant photonic quantum computing architectures.
- Develop, maintain, optimize, and extend software for large-scale quantum error-correction simulations.
- Evaluate architecture performance and estimate computational resources.
- Write and run optimized, parallelized code on supercomputers and computing clusters.
- Apply testing, continuous integration, version control, documentation, and code review practices.
- Perform analytical work across abstraction levels from optical circuits to qubit quantum error correction.
Requirements
- MSc in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering, especially in quantum information theory or related topics.
- Several years of related research or industry experience.
- Strong object-oriented programming experience in Python.
- Experience with high-performance computing and optimized, parallelized code on supercomputers and computing clusters.
- Familiarity with quantum computation theory, quantum error correction under different noise models, codes, and decoders.
- Familiarity with photonic quantum computation, including bosonic codes such as GKP states and the continuous-variable formalism.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Preferred: current knowledge of quantum computing and error-correction developments.
- Preferred: knowledge of measurement-based quantum computation.
- Preferred: experience programming in C or C++.
- Preferred: experience in a fast-growing technology start-up environment.
- A PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering is an asset.
