Base Salary
$95k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and iterate on AI agents that interact with BigCommerce and partner data to drive automation.
- Connect agents to MCP servers that interact with backend APIs and databases.
- Build agents that interpret user intent and call APIs to perform store-management actions.
- Develop and integrate AI assistant features into the BigCommerce control panel for natural-language queries and actions.
- Collaborate with product designers and NLP experts on conversational user experiences.
- Rapidly build proof-of-concept solutions to validate user stories.
- Contribute to tooling and frameworks for LLM fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and safe action execution.
Requirements
- 3+ years of backend or full-stack software development experience, ideally focused on AI, MCP, or A2A systems.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Strong, proven programming skills in Go.
- Experience with LLMs such as OpenAI and Anthropic and with building agentic AI applications.
- Understanding of prompt engineering concepts.
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and data integration across systems.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and execution skills.
- Preferred experience with e-commerce platforms or SaaS product development.
- Preferred background in conversational AI or natural language processing.
- Preferred familiarity with LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or similar prompt engineering and chaining tools.
- Preferred experience with rules-based systems, automation tools, or AI copilots.
