Base Salary
$100k - $150k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain APIs, workflows, integrations, and internal tooling supporting underwriting and policy administration systems.
- Own assigned features, enhancements, bug fixes, tests, documentation, validation, deployment support, and operational follow-through.
- Translate evolving requirements from engineering and business stakeholders into practical technical solutions.
- Contribute to integrations among internal systems, external vendors, and policy administration platforms.
- Participate in debugging, testing, automation, monitoring, production support, root-cause analysis, and issue resolution.
- Improve engineering tooling, developer workflows, team practices, reliability, delivery speed, and quality.
- Use AI-assisted engineering workflows daily, including Claude Code or similar tools.
- Develop and apply knowledge of quoting, binding, endorsements, rating, forms, and policy lifecycle concepts.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong Python or JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals.
- Experience building or maintaining APIs, workflows, integrations, or internal tooling.
- Ability to deliver features and components with moderate independence and make practical technical decisions.
- Experience with testing, debugging, automation, monitoring, and production support practices.
- Comfort working with evolving requirements and asking thoughtful clarifying questions.
- Comfort using AI-assisted development tools; Claude Code experience is strongly preferred.
- Interest in learning or applying insurance, underwriting, or policy administration domain knowledge.
- Comfort with an onsite presence four days per week in Grand Rapids, MI; Uniondale, NY; Austin, TX; or Atlanta, GA.
