Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve backend services serving BlaBlaCar’s global carpool inventory.
- Own substantial features from technical design and implementation through deployment and monitoring.
- Validate and store driver publications and routes, support internal search, manage booking lifecycles, and provide inventory information across the product.
- Enhance and maintain geospatial services using OSRM and Google Maps, including routing, places, and dynamic search capabilities.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Designers, engineers, and consumer teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Improve code quality through detailed code reviews and mentorship.
- Document technical solutions and ensure APIs and services are understood by consumer teams.
Requirements
- Solid experience in companies with a strong engineering culture and within a growth context.
- Solid knowledge of Java and its ecosystem, with good software architecture foundations.
- Hands-on experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring solutions such as Datadog.
- Significant experience building, deploying, and operating backend microservices in production.
- Product-oriented mindset with a focus on business impact when designing software.
- Ability to make technical choices and balance business needs with technical constraints.
