Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain enterprise software enforcing trusted device access across web, mobile, and desktop platforms.
- Lead development of resilient, performant, and secure authentication and secure-access components.
- Own services end-to-end from architecture and design through implementation and deployment.
- Improve system availability and performance through observability, alerting, and on-call support.
- Drive architectural discussions and guide the evolution of Box’s security infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams on multi-quarter device-management and access-control initiatives.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to and triage operational issues.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to cross-functional technical initiatives.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend development experience, including leadership of significant technical initiatives.
- Proficiency writing clean, maintainable Java code.
- Experience operating large-scale distributed systems with high uptime and security expectations.
- Platform-oriented engineering approach focused on extensibility and maintainability.
- Ability to mentor engineers and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Preferred experience with mature mission-critical systems and enterprise security, authentication, identity, or access control.
- Preferred experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms including GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Preferred experience with PHP, TypeScript, React, and on-call coverage.
