Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve the end-to-end architectural blueprint for cloud-native applications across compute, data, networking, security, and observability layers on AWS.
- Define agentic AI architecture patterns covering multi-agent systems, tool orchestration, memory and retrieval, LLM routing, guardrails, and feedback loops.
- Establish organization-wide DevOps standards for CI/CD, GitOps, deployment strategies, environment parity, and release engineering.
- Design and oversee platform infrastructure, including Kubernetes, service mesh, API gateways, secrets management, IAM/RBAC governance, data stores, and multi-account/multi-region AWS topology.
- Lead architecture reviews and make binding technical decisions for high-risk changes while balancing velocity, reliability, cost, and security.
- Define SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, logging, distributed tracing, capacity planning, and incident-response frameworks.
- Introduce technologies through proof-of-concept and risk-assessment processes and build communities of practice around architecture.
- Produce architecture decision records, system context diagrams, threat models, and runbooks as sources of truth for platform design.
- Advise Product and Partners on architectural constraints and strategic options.
- Mentor staff and senior engineers and conduct design reviews to improve systems design and engineering leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering and systems architecture, including 3+ years in a dedicated architect or principal engineer role.
- 5+ years of AWS architecture experience at scale, including multi-account organization design, landing zones or Control Tower, VPC design, IAM governance, and cost optimization.
- Experience architecting highly available, low-latency, elastically scalable distributed systems under variable production loads.
- Experience designing agentic AI architectures with orchestration layers, agent frameworks, tool/API integration, evaluation pipelines, and operational monitoring.
- Expertise in Kubernetes, Terraform or CDK, Helm, GitOps tooling, CI/CD platforms, and container security practices.
- Experience with API gateway patterns including REST, gRPC, and asynchronous event-driven architectures.
- Experience establishing SRE practices such as SLOs, error budgets, runbooks, chaos engineering, and game days.
- Understanding of cloud security architecture, zero-trust networking, secrets management, SIEM integration, and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
- Experience with streaming pipelines, data lakes, OLAP/OLTP boundary design, and caching strategies.
- Experience presenting architecture artifacts such as C4 diagrams, sequence diagrams, threat models, and ADRs.
- Experience scaling engineering organizations through architecture standards, platform investment, and internal developer experience improvements.
Benefits
- Great compensation package and bonus plan.
- Medical, dental, vision, and matching 401K benefits.
- Flexible work environment with remote, hybrid, or in-office options.
- Flexible time off including volunteer time off, vacation, sick leave, and 12 paid holidays.
- The role is listed as remote and supports flexible work arrangements.
