Responsibilities
- Own the health, performance, and reliability of a multi-database ecosystem across relational, graph, and cloud-hosted platforms.
- Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL and Cassandra databases, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and high-availability configurations.
- Administer and develop TigerGraph through graph schema modeling, GSQL query development, and cluster management.
- Manage BigQuery datasets, including partitioning, clustering, cost optimization, and access control.
- Monitor database performance and resolve bottlenecks, deadlocks, and slow queries.
- Own backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery strategies for managed databases.
- Enforce data security policies, user access controls, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with backend engineering and data teams on data modeling and query design.
- Maintain database documentation, runbooks, and capacity-planning reports.
- Support data migration and transformation pipelines across systems.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of overall IT experience with strong database administration expertise.
- Hands-on DBA experience with performance tuning, replication, vacuuming, and partitioning.
- Hands-on TigerGraph experience, including graph modeling, GSQL development, and cluster operations.
- Strong Cassandra experience covering data modeling, query optimization, and operational support.
- Working knowledge of BigQuery, including partitioning, clustering, cost optimization, and access control/IAM, is good to have.
- Strong understanding of database security, access controls, backup strategies, and disaster recovery.
- Solid experience with GCP services such as Cloud SQL, GCS, IAM, and networking.
- Operational familiarity with Kubernetes/GKE, with TigerGraph deployed on GKE.
- Exposure to CI/CD and/or Liquibase for database change automation is good to have.
