Base Salary
$180k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own billing and pricing systems, including metering, usage roll-ups, pricing logic, and customer and administrative surfaces.
- Design APIs, data models, and product contracts that other teams and customers can safely depend on.
- Expand ownership to accounts, access and identity, API keys, model discovery, and usage, cost, and access surfaces.
- Engineer for correctness and resilience through source-of-truth design, idempotency, auditability, permissions, observability, and graceful failure.
- Own operational health and participate in on-call for the systems built.
- Partner with product, infrastructure, finance, revenue, security, and customer-facing teams to turn manual workflows into durable systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years building reliable production backend systems with Python and/or TypeScript.
- Strong PostgreSQL skills, including schema design, queries, migrations, and performance.
- Experience designing APIs and data models for complex product or business domains.
- Ability to ship product and internal surfaces using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Strong systems and product judgment involving source of truth, idempotency, auditability, permissions, observability, workflows, edge cases, and customer trust.
- Experience with usage-based billing, metering, or pricing systems such as Stripe, Orb, or Metronome is a differentiator.
- Experience with identity and access systems, developer platforms, model registries, usage or observability dashboards, generative AI, inference APIs, or developer-facing AI products is a plus.
- Comfort working in ambiguous, cross-functional environments where product, business logic, and infrastructure overlap.
