Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and support production-quality full-stack applications and shared services.
- Lead complex component implementation while contributing directly to the codebase.
- Shape platform architecture, shared services, application onboarding patterns, integration standards, developer experience, and operational controls.
- Develop backend systems using Python and Java and build frontend applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Design scalable distributed systems and make, document, and communicate significant architecture and engineering decisions.
- Diagnose complex production, performance, and integration issues and drive effective solutions.
- Conduct code, design, and architecture reviews and enforce engineering standards.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical direction across teams and locations.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial software-engineering experience with recent hands-on development of complex production systems.
- Expert-level production experience with Python and Java, including language fundamentals, testing, performance, and maintainability.
- Strong hands-on experience designing and delivering production frontend applications with React and TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Experience designing secure, resilient distributed systems with well-designed APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience designing or evolving extensible application platforms, developer platforms, marketplaces, or comparable ecosystems.
- Strong hands-on cloud architecture and engineering experience, preferably with Google Cloud Platform.
- Production experience with containerization, orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, relational and NoSQL databases, security, observability, and reliable production operations.
- Evidence of leading architecture and engineering decisions, raising standards through reviews and mentoring, and continuing direct implementation work.
- Broad technical judgment across architecture, cloud, application security, networking, data, integration, and DevOps.
- Experience in financial services, financial markets, treasury, or another highly regulated environment.
- Additional experience with C++, Go, or Rust is preferred.
- Familiarity with data science, analytics, machine learning, or statistical modelling is preferred.
- Experience with Dash or comparable data-focused user-interface frameworks is preferred.
- Experience providing technical leadership across distributed or multi-location engineering teams.
