Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain features in Ruby on Rails payment services.
- Build and operate scalable, high-performance payment integrations, APIs, checkout flows, and payment-processing services.
- Ensure production-grade functionality through testing, instrumentation, documentation, and secure coding practices.
- Troubleshoot live production issues, participate in post-incident reviews, and support incident management and on-call responsibilities.
- Optimize queries, performance, architecture, reliability, availability, and scalability of backend services.
- Collaborate with product, design, operations, infrastructure, business stakeholders, and external partners on features and architectures.
- Review code, mentor engineers, participate in technical discussions, and foster continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional backend development experience focused on Ruby on Rails.
- Experience building and operating production-grade systems and debugging live traffic issues using logs, traces, metrics, and feature flags.
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, and Lightstep or similar observability tooling.
- Understanding of Domain-Driven Design and experience integrating third-party APIs and services, particularly payment flows with nuanced state transitions.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, computer engineering, or management information systems; equivalent experience or a comprehensive software engineering boot camp is also accepted.
- Experience with continuous integration and ownership across the software development lifecycle.
- Experience developing high-performance, scalable, and highly available web services and applications.
- Experience with PHP and Scala is preferred.
