Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Go microservices.
- Drive technical architecture and anticipate system scaling and maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with product, design, frontend, and other cross-functional teams to deliver features.
- Participate in system design reviews and contribute to the engineering strategy.
- Own code quality, reliability, and observability from development through production.
- Plan and execute projects from inception through delivery.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and take responsibility for production systems.
- Mentor peers and junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with modern programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, Ruby, or C#; Go is preferred or candidates should be willing to learn it.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and inter-service communication, including technologies such as protobuf/gRPC, REST, and NSQ.
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and own production systems.
- Preferred experience deploying and maintaining services in cloud environments, especially Google Cloud Platform.
- Preferred familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, observability tooling, service reliability, protobuf/gRPC, or Temporal.
- Experience breaking monoliths into microservices is valued.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and explain complex systems to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
