Senior Java Architect, VP II, State Street Investment Management
State StreetResponsibilities
- Lead and drive technical initiatives that improve platform capabilities, operational adoption, scalability, and growth.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, and delivery of large-scale software solutions.
- Design, enhance, and maintain reliable, performant, and maintainable core frameworks and shared components.
- Translate complex business and technical requirements into low-latency, sustainable software solutions with Product Managers and Business Analysts.
- Lead resolution of advanced design, performance, data, and integration challenges across major project phases.
- Design data-domain interactions and align them with existing data sources and platforms.
- Develop, test, and implement production-grade software using Java and cloud-native technologies.
- Provide technical guidance through code and design reviews and ensure alignment with architectural and performance standards.
- Write and review unit, integration, and automated tests while improving test automation, coverage, resilience, and delivery efficiency.
- Contribute to agile delivery activities including standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
Requirements
- 18+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in object-oriented design, design patterns, SOLID principles, and industry best practices.
- Strong proficiency in Java and experience building scalable, high-performance, multi-tier applications.
- Experience designing, building, and deploying distributed systems and scalable microservices.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud-native architectures, Snowflake, and Databricks.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Experience with Kafka and Apache Flink for event-driven and real-time processing systems.
- Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry.
- Familiarity with React, Node.js, HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript, and JSON.
- Experience with relational SQL/RDBMS and NoSQL data stores, including data modeling, performance tuning, and architectural trade-offs.
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle from design through deployment and production support.
- Understanding of AI and Generative AI concepts and practical use of AI-enabled tools such as Copilot.
- Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, or data analysis is highly desirable.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in financial services, including exposure to OMS and EMS systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and business teams.
