$171k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, highly available backend solutions for Uber One membership benefits.
- Solve complex technical problems, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and align cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to deliver product features.
- Write clean, high-performance code and uphold testing, coverage, and reliability standards.
- Improve monitoring, on-call practices, engineering culture, and operational processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and help guide technical strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of full-time professional software engineering experience.
- Expertise in one or more object-oriented programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, or C++.
- Preferred proficiency in Go or Java and experience building and maintaining highly distributed systems.
- Preferred history of shipping high-quality features on schedule and demonstrated ownership.
- Preferred ability to mentor junior engineers and guide technical strategy.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with data analytics tools such as Hive is preferred.

- Base salary range of USD $171,000-$190,000 per year for San Francisco, CA-based roles.
- Eligibility for Uber’s bonus program and potential equity awards and other compensation.
