$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed systems for hyper-scale workloads.
- Define scalability, correctness, availability, durability, and service-level requirements for owned components.
- Design fault-tolerant, in-service-upgradable systems using redundancy, replication, failover, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Optimize systems and data paths for large-scale retrieval, storage, processing, and high throughput.
- Design performance, load, fault-injection, brownout, replication, and synchronization testing.
- Establish KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, and alerting to monitor system health and performance.
- Diagnose and resolve production and performance issues, support incident response, and conduct root-cause investigations.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, and maintain cloud compliance documentation.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code and automation for safe patching, updating, and rollback workflows.
- Mentor engineers, conduct design and code reviews, coordinate moderately complex initiatives, and participate in candidate interviews.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6–10+ years of software engineering experience building highly available, scalable distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Go, Rust, C, C++, or a similar systems or backend language.
- Deep experience in infrastructure areas such as distributed systems, cloud control planes, management planes, scheduling, virtualization, storage, networking, security, reliability, or platform automation.
- Ability to independently lead design and delivery of complex, resilient, observable, and operable services.
- Strong understanding of failure handling, concurrency, asynchronous workflows, safe retries, and lifecycle management in distributed systems.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for complex production and performance issues.
- Experience collaborating across teams and translating broad platform goals into clear designs and executable plans.
- Ability to provide technical leadership through mentoring, design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on engineering.
- Experience with operational readiness, incident support, security remediation, compliance, and infrastructure automation is relevant to the role.
