Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate reliable backend services and APIs.
  • Own technical projects from initial architecture through production deployment and ongoing operation.
  • Build systems that process high volumes of events, experiments, and customer data.
  • Improve platform interoperability, reliability, performance, observability, and scalability.
  • Make architectural decisions balancing speed, simplicity, and long-term maintainability.
  • Translate product and customer needs into reusable platform capabilities.
  • Help establish engineering standards and shape the company’s technical foundation.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience building and operating backend systems in production.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing distributed or data-intensive systems.
  • Proficiency in Python or another modern backend language.
  • Experience building APIs, services, databases, and asynchronous workflows.
  • A record of owning meaningful technical projects from conception through production.
  • Strong judgment around system design, reliability, and technical tradeoffs.
  • Experience in an early-stage or high-growth startup.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, and Postgres.
  • Familiarity with evaluation systems, observability, orchestration, or distributed task execution.
  • Experience with systems where correctness, latency, and reliability affect customer experience.
  • Ability to work with evolving requirements and limited structure, communicate clearly, and collaborate effectively.
