Responsibilities

Design, implement, test, and ship bare-* native modules end to end.
Write C native addons that bridge Bluetooth, networking, filesystem, and cryptographic platform APIs into JavaScript.
Maintain and extend native modules and contribute to the Bare runtime core, including its module system, native addon system, and lightweight threads.
Set up and maintain cross-platform builds, cross-compilation toolchains, and CI pipelines for macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.
Investigate and fix platform-specific build, toolchain, and native addon issues across operating systems and mobile devices.
Help reduce the Bare-Node compatibility gap and evaluate alternative JavaScript engines such as libjerry.
Communicate progress and decisions in writing, respond to internal and public inquiries, participate in weekly status calls and workshops, and coordinate with product teams.

Strong C programming skills with experience writing and debugging native code across platforms.
Advanced JavaScript skills and a solid understanding of Node.js internals and its module ecosystem.
Experience building native addons for Node.js or similar runtimes, using N-API, node-gyp, or an equivalent.
Familiarity with libuv or another asynchronous I/O framework.
Comfort working with macOS, Linux, Android NDK, and iOS Xcode build toolchains.
Experience with cross-compilation and platform-specific system APIs, including Bluetooth, networking, and filesystem APIs.
Ability to read and navigate large C and C++ codebases.
Self-directed working style and strong written communication skills.
