Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical expert for the Veza Access Graph and decompose complex technical, functional, and business challenges into executable initiatives.
- Design and implement scalable distributed backend systems, including graph data models, APIs, and high-stakes infrastructure with correctness and rollback safety.
- Solve problems from architecture through implementation and drive large-scale platform simplification, code quality, testing, documentation, and support practices.
- Set roadmap priorities, refine technical requirements, lead design reviews, and coordinate workstreams, dependencies, milestones, and delivery.
- Define coding standards and technical direction adopted across teams, and represent roadmap dependencies in company-wide initiatives.
- Coach and mentor team leads and individual contributors, contribute to interview loops, and help identify and close talent gaps.
- Drive collaboration, conflict resolution, stakeholder alignment, and successful delivery across PMs, TPMs, engineering managers, technical leads, and dependency teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional backend software development experience focused on scalable distributed systems, data management, identity, security, or related domains.
- Strong knowledge of distributed-systems fundamentals, including consistency models, partitioning and sharding, replication, consensus, and failure modes at scale.
- Experience with graph database internals, traversal algorithms, query planning and optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Production-level Go experience building and testing backend services, including concurrency, memory, and performance tuning.
- Experience with large-scale graph data modeling, RESTful APIs, microservice architectures, caching, cloud platforms, and containerization or orchestration.
- Track record of making organization-wide technical decisions, setting standards adopted by multiple teams, and owning technical direction beyond an assigned mandate.
- Fluency with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code or Copilot, with the ability to verify generated output against source code, tests, and runtime behavior.
- Preferred qualifications include storage or query engine development, Neo4j internals or comparable experience, relational algebra, graph algorithms, OLTP and OLAP systems, identity and access management concepts, and security or compliance-adjacent engineering.
- A graduate degree is preferred.
