Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority for frontend architecture, patterns, tooling, and standards across product domains.
- Design, build, and maintain full-stack features spanning frontend interfaces, APIs, services, and infrastructure.
- Lead technical design reviews, architecture discussions, and RFC processes across engineering teams.
- Identify and resolve performance, reliability, scaling, debugging, and technical debt issues across the full stack.
- Define and champion engineering practices for code quality, testing, observability, and deployment safety.
- Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product, and Design on roadmaps and technical feasibility.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, design feedback, and technical guidance.
- Conduct technical interviews and help define frontend engineering standards.
- Communicate technical risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience with a strong frontend focus and principal- or staff-level scope.
- Deep expertise in React and Next.js, including advanced rendering and application-router patterns.
- Strong proficiency with TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, component libraries, state management, and schema validation or form-handling libraries.
- Experience designing and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs, including contracts, versioning, error handling, and type-safe client generation.
- Experience building serverless backend services on AWS using services such as API Gateway, Lambda, CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, S3, DynamoDB, and RDS.
- Strong understanding of frontend performance optimization, caching, data-fetching libraries, and bundle analysis.
- Deep experience debugging full-stack issues using browser tools, network traces, distributed tracing, log analysis, and profiling.
- Experience with unit, component, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Familiarity with monorepo tooling and modern build systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including RFC writing and design-review leadership.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, financial-services experience, design-system ownership, micro-frontend experience, AWS event-driven architecture experience, React Native experience, GenAI frontend integrations, AWS certifications, open-source contributions, and organization-wide technical leadership.
