Base Salary
$142k - $221k/yr
Responsibilities
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify agentic AI opportunities and define measurable success criteria.
- Design and build production agentic solutions across orchestration, tool-use pipelines, enterprise integrations, retrieval, and workflow state.
- Own end-to-end solution architecture spanning multiple engineers and upstream and downstream integrations.
- Apply context engineering, RAG patterns, structured retrieval, and dynamic prompt assembly while balancing token, latency, quality, and cost constraints.
- Design and operate evaluations, safety guardrails, offline benchmarks, online telemetry, observability, and failure-mode analysis.
- Architect short-term and long-term memory, conversation state, and durable workflow state for agents.
- Integrate LLM APIs, embedding models, vector stores, and agentic frameworks into production services.
- Make technical trade-offs involving system design, frameworks, model selection, scalability, delivery timelines, and infrastructure costs.
- Lead design and code reviews, maintain quality and extensibility standards, and mentor junior engineers.
- Collaborate with product, business, infrastructure, and security teams on production enhancements, reliability improvements, and bug fixes.
- Define metrics and drive accountability for performance, cost, accuracy, reliability, and security.
- Identify delivery or design conflicts and recommend paths forward; participate in hiring interviews and contribute to engineering and security standards.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience designing and delivering complex, scalable distributed systems.
- Hands-on production experience with LLMs, foundation model APIs, prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and embedding-based search.
- Experience designing, building, and operating AI agents or agentic workflows with tool use, orchestration, and downstream-system integration.
- Strong understanding of context assembly, pruning, and structuring under token, latency, and cost constraints.
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks and safety guardrails for LLM-based systems, including offline benchmarks and online telemetry.
- Familiarity with agent memory patterns, vector stores, conversation state, and durable workflow state.
- Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks such as Claude Agent SDK, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, or OpenAI Assistants API.
- Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration, task decomposition, tool-use pipelines, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Product-minded engineering judgment and the ability to translate business intent into agentic capabilities.
- Proficiency in Python and strong familiarity with multiple technology stacks and cloud-native development on AWS and/or GCP.
- Experience collaborating with product, business, infrastructure, and security stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience with RESTful services, event-driven architectures, SQL, NoSQL, cloud-native datastores, Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab, observability, Spark, BigQuery, Redshift, production ML integration, and retail, e-commerce, or supply-chain domains.
