Base Salary
$75k - $114k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded software for aircraft, payloads, sensors, radios, and robotic systems.
- Integrate embedded processors, sensor drivers, communications bus drivers, autopilots, servos, and actuators.
- Troubleshoot real-time systems across application, communications, driver, and board-support layers.
- Support requirements development, test planning, validation, defect tracking, design reviews, certification, and production transition.
- Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrations while estimating effort and aligning scope with project timelines and budgets.
- Support flight testing, field testing, operational handoff, and collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum 2–5 years of work experience or demonstrated equivalent competency and professionalism.
- Strong C++ and object-oriented development experience, including 2–5 years of relevant Linux application software development.
- Expertise in C and Python, embedded development, real-time troubleshooting, and hardware and sensor integration.
- Experience with IDEs, defect tracking tools, unit testing, test-driven development, build pipelines, coding standards, and linters.
- Knowledge of communications protocols, microcontroller RTOS systems, ARM processors, board bring-up, board support packages, and aerospace or defense systems is desired.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and ownership skills.
- U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or qualifying asylee/refugee status is required; the applicant must be able to work on government contracts and obtain a security clearance.
- Willingness to work on-site daily in Huntsville, travel to approved flying locations, and work occasional irregular hours, weekends, or holidays during testing and deadlines.
