Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded C++ software for real-time, mission-critical systems.
- Develop and integrate low-level software components and system interfaces.
- Contribute to software development in safety-regulated and high-integrity environments.
- Support unit, integration, and system-level testing for deterministic and reliable behaviour.
- Contribute to verification, validation, and requirements traceability activities.
- Collaborate with systems, electronics, and test engineers to integrate software into complex platforms.
- Produce clear, traceable technical documentation for regulated engineering environments.
- Apply debugging, problem-solving, configuration management, and development lifecycle practices.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in embedded software engineering.
- Strong experience with embedded C++.
- Proven experience delivering software in defence, safety-critical, or regulated environments.
- Solid understanding of real-time software constraints and deterministic behaviour.
- Experience with verification, validation, and requirements traceability.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience from a relevant technical military background.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain UK SC security clearance.
- Strong communication, ownership, accountability, and problem-solving skills in multidisciplinary, process-heavy programmes.
- Exposure to safety-critical standards such as DO-178 or equivalent is desirable.
- Experience with Ada in high-integrity or regulated systems is desirable.
- Knowledge of MISRA C/C++ or secure coding practices is desirable.
- Familiarity with automated testing, static analysis, or CI/CD pipelines is desirable.
