Base Salary
$144k - $288k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build secure, high-performance, well-documented user interfaces and APIs for AI-driven applications.
- Develop and scale schemas and data systems across SQL, NoSQL, vector databases, and other emerging database technologies.
- Drive front-end and backend service development with an emphasis on performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- Diagnose system bottlenecks and ensure high availability and low-latency performance across large-scale workloads.
- Use AWS services and Kubernetes to build and deploy production-grade systems at scale.
- Integrate data pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure into scientific workflows in collaboration with ML researchers, engineers, and scientists.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 6–8+ years of experience building and deploying large-scale production systems.
- Strong expertise in front-end engineering, backend engineering, or data modeling and system design, with the ability to work across the stack.
- Strong experience with TypeScript and React; Python experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong experience with SQL, NoSQL, and emerging database technologies such as vector databases, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Ability to design and scale RESTful or GraphQL APIs for reliability and performance.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants.
- Experience in life sciences, materials science, research-heavy, or other data-intensive domains.
- Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration with scientists, data engineers, and product teams.
- Ability to own complex technical challenges while balancing scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Preferred experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; Kubernetes, containerization, infrastructure as code such as Terraform or CloudFormation; and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
- Preferred experience with orchestration tools such as Flyte, Temporal, Airflow, or Prefect.
- Preferred experience building laboratory, scientific workflow, LIMS, ELN, data platform, or ML platform products.
- Preferred experience designing systems supporting auditability, traceability, reproducibility, data provenance, or regulated workflows.
